STF to protect prisons from today

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Special Task Force (STF) will be deployed to provide security to prisons as from today (15), the Senior Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Justice and Prison Reforms Bandu Jayasinghe said.

Accordingly, 300 STF personnel will be deployed to three prisons under the first stage.

Thereby, 200 STF personnel will be assigned to the Welikada and Magazine Prisons, and 100 to the Angunukolapalassa Prison.

Jayasinghe further stated that the objective of this programme is to prevent illegal activities, and strengthen the security.
