2nd Permanent High Court-at-Bar in effect from today

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The second Permanent High Court-at-Bar, established to hear cases of serious fraud and corruption, will be in effect from Monday (15).

Colombo Commercial High Court Judge R. Gurusinghe will Chair proceedings while Negombo High Court Judge Amal Ranaraja and Colombo High Court Judge Shashi Mahendran comprise of the other two Judges.

The Cabinet of Ministers had given approval for the establishment three Special High Courts with an objective of expediting the cases of mass scale corruption and financial misappropriations.

The Government presented the Bill on 06 March to set up Permanent High Court-at-Bar to expedite cases of large scale corruption and financial crimes.
