“We should take lessons from Mahatma Gandhi’s character, for our lives” – President

(UTV|COLOMBO) – President Maithripala Sirisena says we should refer the great character of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of Nonviolence, not only to praise his unlimited character, but also to get examples from his eminent character to our lives.

He made these remarks participating in the special debate held at the Parliament, yesterday (12) to mark his 150th Birth Anniversary.

President Sirisena also called on the world leaders to commit themselves to adhere to implement the message Mahatma Gandhi tried to deliver to the world.

Taking Mahatma Gandhi for example the world can find many solutions for the issues of the world today.

The President further said that Mahatma Gandhi who was not a politician was a true humanitarian and said that he was honoured not only in India but also around the world.
