(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Cyclonic Storm “TITLI” in the Bay of Bengal is now located near 15.5N, 86.0E, at 2330hrs on 09 October 2018. The system is located 1000km away from Trincomalee and it is likely to move North-westwards towards Andhra Pradesh coast of India, Department of Meteorology said.
The prevailing showery condition in the south western part of the Island expected to reduce some extend from tomorrow.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Western, Central, Southern, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces.
Showers or thundershowers will occur elsewhere particularly after 2.00p.m.
Heavy falls about 75 mm can be expected at some places in Southern and Uva provinces and in the Kaluthara and Ratnapura districts.
Fairly strong gusty winds up to 50 kmph can be expected over the Western, Southern, Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces.
There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers. General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
However Deputy Director of the DMC Pradeep Kodippili requested the public to continue to remain vigilant of the inclement weather.
He also cautioned the public living in Wallavita, Bulathsinhala and Matugama of the Kalutara District where red notices have been issued.
